Below are some of our most asked questions. If you an inquiry not addressed here, please feel free to contact us via email or phone.
How do I get started with dog day care?
First, complete our intake forms online, or you can stop in and complete them on paper (expect to take about ten minutes).
Next, we will need you to bring in your pet(s) shot records showing up-to-date vaccinations for rabies, DaPP (parvo-distemper), and kennel cough (bordatella). If you do not have them, but the pet is current on his or her shots, then bring in your veterinarian's contact info and we will call them. No pets can stay at K9 Cleveland without these minimum vaccinations as well as a flea preventative.
At this point, your pet will be able to spend a free trial day with us. After this assessment, if he or she is comfortable with others in the group, they are welcomed into the pack!
What are assessments for?
Not every dog is comfortable in a day care setting, and might behave differently toward other dogs and people than you are used to seeing. Our assessments are simply to determine how well your dog fits in and interacts with the other dogs at K9 Cleveland.
Why is day care important for a dog?
In general, dogs are social animals with an abundance of energy. In a day care setting, rather than being cooped up alone while their owners are at work, dogs here can run, play, and interact with other canines and our staff. This makes for a more pleasant evening after you take them home, since the dog will be more calm and healthy, both mentally and physically.
Is parking available there?
Absolutely! We have a large private lot so you can drop off and pick up your pet without any stress whatsoever. We are on a low traffic road and parking is free.
What is your indoor dog park?
During winter months when it is too cold to stand outside with your dog to play, you can bring them here on Saturdays and Sundays, 10:00am-1:00pm, for self-supervised play and socialization. This means you watch them the way you would at a regular dog park. Drop-ins are welcome, but you must bring up-to-date shot records (rabies, bordetella, distemper/parvo). Cost is $2.
Do you use shock collars or choke-and-prong collars?
No. We believe that these methods are not safe for the dog, nor are they effective for correcting behavioral issues in the long term.
What do day care and pet boarding cost?
Day Care rates are $25 for a full day (up to 12 hours) and $15 for a half day (up to 6 hours). We also offer a monthly unlimited pass for $250, and a ten-day punch pass that never expires for $225.
Overnight dog boarding costs $40/night for the first dog, and $34/night for each additional dog. Cats cost $18/night.
How long will my dog be left alone during overnight boarding?
While our day care hours are 6:00am-7:00pm, we also have an on-site staff member able to check on them during evening hours.
What shots do my dog or cat need to access your services?
In order to keep everyone safe we require basic vaccinations to all pets visiting us:
- DaPP ( distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, parainfluenza virus)
- Bordetella (kennel cough)
- FVRCP (distemper, feline herpes, etc.)
How do I find your location?
We are on the west bank of the flats in downtown Cleveland. Our building is bright orange, not easy to miss as you drive down Elm St. just two blocks past McCarthy's and not far from Mullberry's. Just type K9 Cleveland into Google Maps, and it'll lead you right to us!
What is included with full service professional grooming?
Marilyn is our experienced professional groomer and she will bathe your pet, cut their hair and trim their nails, clean their ears, and even express their anal glands as needed.
